Meeting the Challenge
Leading the Way
The Road Ahead
All of the challenges that we face are fixable and in fact, we can turn the page on where we are and create a better world. Why not? This is a great moment to look seriously at where we are at and where we want to be. It is also a great moment to look at the kind of world we want to leave our children.
Why not just stop for a moment ( a very short one) and look at what is working and what isn't. If we are going to survive, we are going to have to make some substantial changes. The solutions to the climate crisis can improve health, income inequality, security and housing with the bonus of drastically reducing emissions and regenerating ecosystems.
People are often resistant to change because they are afraid of what they will lose but our story does not need to be about loss. This can be the story of how we created a better world, a better country and, hard as it is to believe, a better
Salt Spring Island.
We have everything we need right now to create a better future.
It is time to think about what we are fighting for rather than what we are fighting against.
Salt Spring can lead the way
Abolitionists were labelled “utopian” and mocked for imagining the economy could survive without slaves.
Suffragettes were told that they would never get the vote.
History is filled with those that believe that things cannot change. This is a great moment to prove them wrong again.
